Mona Tayebian

Biography

Mona Tayebian (b. 1984, Tehran, Iran) is an Iranian painter based in Tehran. She holds an M.A. from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Tehran.

After years of study and professional experience in architecture, Tayebian devoted her practice to painting. Her architectural background has profoundly shaped her visual language, making structure, geometry, and spatial organization fundamental elements of her work. Yet her paintings are not driven by formal order alone — they emerge at the intersection of abstraction and nature, exploring the relationship between the elemental forces of the natural world and the abstract systems through which contemporary experience is perceived.

In Tayebian's work, nature is approached not as landscape but as a living presence and generative force. Translated into rhythm, structure, and geometry, it retains the logic of its origin while entering the realm of abstraction. Her paintings reflect on the relationship between the living world and human intervention, where abstraction continues to bear the trace of its natural source.

Her work has been presented in numerous group exhibitions, including Seyhoun Gallery, Laleh Art Gallery, Niavaran Cultural Center, the Isfahan Museum of Contemporary Art, the Saba Art and Cultural Institute (affiliated with the Iranian Academy of the Arts), Tehran Art Expo, and Forouhar Art Gallery. Her work has also been published by the Encyclopaedia Iranica Foundation, and one of her paintings was selected by the jury as a distinguished work at the Tehran Art Expo.
